“Is…it going to be dangerous what we’re going to do tonight?”

“It will be very risky, but it’s our only chance. I’ll take a few other treasures of the king’s with us, along with your necklace and the crown to make it less suspicious of us being the thieves.”

“Okay.” Phoebe exhales agitatedly, “but won’t they notice we’re gone?”

“Well…yeah…after at least a week, knowing them…which may be enough time for me to get you back to your group and return the crown to Lyndiae and immediately fly back to this castle before anyone notices I’m gone. They won’t even suspect I was behind it. As for your disappearance and the treasures’ disappearance…,” he contemplates for a minute and smirks, “I could tell them all that you alone were sneaky enough to disappear from my sight. I later spotted you outside of the castle trying to run away with some stolen treasures, your necklace and the Sottenum crown, but you died from falling off one of the mountain’s cliffs trying to escape me before I could capture you. And I’d also add that the treasures you stole were dragged into an underground hole by deelews, which are poisonous animals that all yuets fear. There is a deelews’ hole not far from here that I can drop a few treasures nearby to make my story more convincing.”

“Really? Could that all work?”

“I’d say so. Hardly anyone here even cares enough to realize how many Gebawns have died trying to steal treasures from other yuets.”

“That’s depressing…”

“You got that right. Anyways, if anyone asks me how a young girl like you managed to slip by someone as swift as me, I’ll just make up that you were hiding some special abilities that only your kind has that you used on me for your own advantage.”

“Maybe that could work,” Phoebe says, scratching her chin.

“It could! I’ll wake you up during the middle of tonight. That will be the best time to do what we have to.” Ricture stands up and leans against the wall.

“Where will I sleep?”

“You’ll sleep in my room with me.”

Phoebe sighs in relief. Better than sleeping in a prison cell. She looks inquisitively at Ricture. “Say Ricture, why are you…protective of me…and I mean even before you knew anything about me, you still helped me get out of trouble.”

“Well…it’s because I could tell Lyndiae was passionate about saving you. Not just because you’re an important part of your group’s plan, but she looked at you like you were a very good friend. Knowing her, she wouldn’t forgive me if I let anything bad happen to you and…I wouldn’t forgive myself either.”

Phoebe’s eyes widen as a smile spreads across her face, feeling very special. “Really? You think she cares about me that much?”

“I think so, judging by the way she reacted when seeing you in danger and the same goes for the other four yuets with her.”

Do Lyndiae, Hezkale, Hilmina, Cernin and Yorgo truly feel that way about me? I wonder if they look at me as a friend too and not just as someone important to their mission.
